UPCOMING WEBINARS

Work Zone Safety: How WE Can Change Outcomes

APRIL 17, 1:00 PM EASTERN TIME

REGISTER

During National Work Zone Awareness Week, NAPA continues to help move the needle forward, to ensure better protection of our nation’s road construction workers. Please join us for a highly informative session on steps WE can take to better ensure work zone safety (WZS). NAPA polled its members and state partners to better understand which WZS policies work and which could use revision to ensure better outcomes. Recognizing this is a multi-agency issue, we are pleased to have OSHA's Deputy Assistant Secretary James Frederick provide additional insight.

Attendees will be able to:

  • Understand the current landscape about why it's so difficult to adequately protect road construction workers
  • Learn what tools are currently available and what might be implemented to better protect road construction workers
  • Hear from state industry representatives about successfully advocating for policies that help ensure road construction worker safety

Guidelines for Use of Asphalt Overlays to Rehabilitate PCC Pavements - Part 2

April 30, 2:00-3:30 PM EASTERN TIME

Register now!

In Part 1 of this webinar series, participants explored opportunities for rehabilitating failed PCC pavements with asphalt overlays. In Part 2, two state agencies present case studies where they applied techniques such as break and seat, crack and seat, and rubblization to rehabilitate failed concrete pavements.

Register and attend live to be eligible for PDH credits.

OUTCOMES

  • Understand the process New Jersey DOT applied to rehabilitate I-295
  • Explore how using these techniques allowed PennDOT to build a thinner pavement structure on SR-28

SPEAKERS

  • Robert Blight, Executive Manager, Pavement & Drainage Management & Technology Bureau, New Jersey DOT
  • Lydia Peddicord, Chief, Pavement Design and Analysis Unit, Pennsylvania DOT
  • Richard Willis, Vice President, Engineering, Research, & Technology, NAPA

The Carbon Footprint of an Asphalt Pavement

MAY 1, 2:00-3:30 PM EASTERN TIME

Register now!

Conversations on Decarbonization, a series for industry and agencies, part 1 of 2

In 2022, NAPA quantified the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions of the U.S. asphalt mix production industry from raw material manufacturing material to asphalt mix production. In this webinar, we explore the sources of GHG emissions throughout the entire life of an asphalt pavement, from cradle to grave. Along the way, we provide an overview of GHG emissions quantification methodologies and common terminology.

Register and attend live to be eligible for PDH credits.

OUTCOMES

  • Explain which mix design components have the greatest impact on the carbon footprint of an asphalt mixture
  • Understand how construction, including quality, impacts the overall environmental impacts of asphalt pavements
  • Discover how activities during the use phase and end of life can affect a pavement’s carbon footprint

SPEAKERS

  • Richard Willis, Vice President, Engineering, Research, & Technology, NAPA
  • Joseph Shacat, Director, Sustainable Pavements, NAPA

Asphalt Pavement Opportunities

MAY 23, 2:00-3:30 PM EASTERN TIME

Register now!

Conversations on Decarbonization, a series for industry and agencies, part 2 of 2

In part 1 of this series, NAPA explored the carbon footprint of an asphalt pavement over its entire life cycle. Knowing the most carbon intensive portions of an asphalt pavement’s life cycle allows engineers to determine the most critical and effective solutions for decarbonization. In part 2, we present opportunities for industry and agencies alike to reduce greenhouse gas emissions throughout the entire life cycle of asphalt pavements.

OUTCOMES

  • Identify and implement the most effective decarbonization strategies available to industry today
  • Explain opportunities available for owners to further reduce carbon emissions associated with asphalt pavements
  • Understand how to leverage tools like the Supply  Curve to prioritize decarbonization efforts

SPEAKERS

  • Richard Willis, Vice President, Engineering, Research, & Technology, NAPA
  • Joseph Shacat, Director, Sustainable Pavements, NAPA
